Your Crew
CHIMERA is owned and operated by Tom and Nancy Pendleton, along with feline crewmembers Yogi P. Kitty and Krishna P. Kitty. Tom is Captain and tour guide. He is a Maine native (some say Maineiac) and was born and raised in Islesboro, the Island in the center of Penobscot Bay. His ancestors 250 years ago were among the first settlers of Islesboro when they moved north from Rhode Island in the 1760's because it was "gettin' too crowded". He is a USCG licensed Captain, and has been on and around these waters for over 40 years.
Nancy is "Cruise Director" which means she organizes and takes care of everything. She is a transplant from Connecticut, having come to Maine as a young girl with her family moved here. As a young woman, her time on the water was spent in sailboats. She came to power boating a little later when she met Tom and has since become a convert and has with Tom spent much time cruising.
Tom is an engineer and had a long first career in Bangor, Maine as a real estate broker, appraiser, and business and development consultant and a second career as CFO of a boat yard. Nancy worked for years in the airline industry and later as an employment consultant. Land side, they now live in Winterport, Maine tending to gardens and raising llamas. The llamas are future crew members in extended training!
Yogi and Krishna, the bengal twins, both spend a great deal of time plotting at the chart table, at the helm and everywhere on deck, except when under way -- when they're both usually sound asleep. They are both experienced cruisers and expert swimmers and always travel along.
Together, Tom and Nancy have visited and experienced just about every inlet and harbor of the hundreds around Penobscot Bay. These Penobscot Bay Cruises are a little big business and a great deal of fun and hobby. They are an opportunity to meet new friends and share the beauty and experience what’s best about Maine.
